Fiber
Fiber is a highly
compressible, special blend of cellulose fibers treated with a glue
glycerin binder rendered insoluble by means of a tanning solution to
give it a strong, flexible, oil-proof property and to provide
excellent sealing ability. It is also highly conformable to
compensate for distortion in flanges. It has excellent resistance to
diesel fuel, gasoline, ethylene glycol, petroleum chemicals and
lubricating oils, making it a highly-effective general purpose
flange gasket material. Fiber color comes in many different colors,
the most popular is tan. Various *ASTM and Mil-specs. Standard
thickness is .006" through .062".
